Origin:

The “International Austronesian Conference” (IAC) has since 2002 stepped into its ninth year. The commencement as well as the continuous development of IAC is always expected to facilitate via conversations initiated among representatives from Austrosian industries, governments, and academic circles the establishment of an interactive network among Austronesian nations. In addition to bringing the understanding of Austrosian cultures into a global level, and promoting not only cross-cultural but also cross-national relationships, IAC is also expected to increase the international publicity as well as status of Taiwan’s indigenous people.

Objectives:

The following objectives are expected to be achieved:
1. Increasing the international publicity as well as status of Taiwan’s indigenous people.

2. Establishing a well-structured platform for academic communication; meanwhile, facilitating actual collaborative relationships between nations.

3. Producing concrete suggestions and government policies regarding indigenous tourism and media.

4. Attracting the attention from the general public upon indigenous issues.

5. Establishing an interactive platform for communication among industries, governments, and academic circles world-wide in terms of indigenous issues.
