Dear Colleague:

College of Indigenous Studies, National Dong Hwa University and WINHEC（World Indigenous Nations Higher Education Consortium）will jointly organize an international research conference on Celebrating & Sustaining Indigenous Knowledge in times of Global Change. We cordially invite you to submit your unpublished work for presentation at this venue. The conference will be held on 19th to 20th September 2012 at College of Indigenous Studies, National Dong Hwa University, Hualien. Keynote lectures will be given by: Professor Dr art. Gunvor Guttorm from Sami University College, Norway and Dr. Pu Chung-chen (Minister without Portfolio) at the Examination Yuan, Taiwan (ROC). Additionally, a number of international scholars from U.S. Continent, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Norway are invited to speak at various organized sessions.

The conference will bring together researchers studying the indigenous knowledge and higher education in the following areas:

1. 1.Focus on the protection of intellectual and cultural property rights of Indigenous peoples within the area of higher education
2. 2.Focus on the Research Standards & Ethics
3. 3.Focus on embedding the scholarship of Indigenous Knowledge and the scholarship of Indigenous knowledge systems, Elders and epistomologies within the context of education
4. 4.Focus on Indigenous Knowledge and Elders
5. 5.Focus on Indigenous Knowledge and Gender
6. 6.Focus on Indigenous Knowledge and Youth Sustainability
7. 7.Focus on Leadership and Sustainability
8. 8.Focus on Research and Indigenous Knowledge

For consideration, please submit your abstract (less than 500 words, with keywords), along with your title, affiliation and field of expertise to Dr. Veronica Arbon at veronica.arbon@deakin.edu.au.
